Description

Accidental Mine, Lynx Creek, Yavapai County, Arizona Territory. The Accidental Lode was one of the first to be located in the Lynx Creek area. It was discovered by the California volunteers from Ft. Whipple who were stationed in the new mines. It was claimed/recorded Sept. 13, 1864. It was located about a mile from Lynx Creek on the south side. It was considered a very worthwhile property. The vein was large and very rich amounts of ore were extracted. At its' zenith, up to eight arrastas were used to separate the mineral ore from the diggings and a two-stamp mill was located nearby. There was a long list of people who had interests in the Accidental, including Doc Holliday when he arrived in Arizona. It was also known as the "Jennie" mine.
