Mary A. (Johnson) Brown (b. 1823 – d. 1904) was born December 4, 1823 and died July 14, 1904 at the family ranch southwest of Prescott, Arizona. She married James H. Brown June 11, 1857 in Rowley, Essex, Massachusetts. She came to Prescott in 1875 from Newburyport, Massachusetts with her husband and son. She and her husband were the parents of Thomas Brown (John Thomas -- J. T. -- Brown).
The family were well-known vegetable growers. On the back of her photograph is written that she was a charter member of Prescott’s Congregational Church in 1880. Her obituary indicates that she was a “consistent member of and regular attendant of the Congregational church.” Her funeral services, held at the church, were conducted by Reverend H. B. Long.
