Description

Thomas J. "Doc" Foster (b. 1822 - d. 1920) was born on February 2, 1822 in Kentucky. The names of his parents are unknown but they were both born in Kentucky.

Thomas, or "Doc" as he was called, was an early Arizona pioneer. He was a teamster and drove a team in the Prescott, Arizona area as early as 1864. There is a record of his having worked at old Fort Whipple in a civilian capacity. Although he lived in various parts of the state and was widely known, he was best known in Yavapai County.

He lived in the Arizona Pioneers' Home in Prescott at the time of his death and was said to be the oldest white man in the state.

Thomas died on April 10, 1920 and was buried in the Pioneers' Home Cemetery in Prescott.
