In April 1908, the Arizona Power Company (TAPCO) began construction of a road to the Childs power plant site near Jerome. The road was completed in July, the same month that construction of the electrical distribution system began. Construction included two transmission lines from the power plant to Poland Junction (pictured here). The substation at Poland Junction was a key distribution point. From there a transmission line went to Prescott and a separate line to Jerome.
