Description

Alfred Collins Lockwood (b. 1875 - d. 1951) was born July 20, 1875 in Ottawa, Illinois and died October 29, 1951 in Phoenix, Arizona. He was the son of Walter Chichester Lockwood and Elizabeth Wilt Peers. He came to Arizona in 1893, located in Maricopa County and was a public school teacher for five years before becoming an attorney.

He was appointed Judge of Cochise County by Governor Hunt in July, 1913. He served on the Arizona Supreme Court for 18 years from January 5, 1925 to January 4, 1943. He served three terms as Chief Justice.

He married Daisy M. Lincoln on June 15, 1902 in Douglas, Arizona. They had three children: Lorena Elizabeth who became the first woman jurist on a superior court bench in Arizona, Alfreda Charlotte and Chester Ralph.
