Robert "Bob" or “Bobby” Arthur Metzger was born December 7, 1924 in Prescott, Arizona.  He grew up in Prescott and was one of four sons to Henry George (b. 1895 – d. 1952) and Alice (Rooney) Metzger (b. 1901 – d. 1995).  His brothers were James, Thomas and Henry Paul, who unfortunately was killed at one year of age.  Bob’s father lived in Prescott for thirty (30) year and was a postal clerk for the US government. Henry served in World War I (WWI) as a Private in the US Army.  Bobby’s mother, Alice (Rooney) Metzger, moved to Prescott in 1921 as the bride of Henry G. Metzger and lived for more than sixty (60) years at 220 South Virginia Street. Alice was a volunteer at Sharlot Hall Museum and was custodian of the Museum from 1953-1954. She then worked as a librarian at the Prescott Public Library, a position she held for more than fifteen (15) years.  During World War II (WWII) Bobby served as a Flight Officer in the US Army Air Corps and died November 24, 1944.
