Mr. William Gibbs McAdoo was the Secretary of Treasury under the administration of President Woodrow Wilson. Mr. McAdoo married the President's daughter.
During World War 1, McAdoo was the Director of General Railroads.
During the course of his duties as Secretary of Treasury he embarked on a tour of the Pacific Coast which brought him through Arizona before the "coast." The Arizona Jorurnal Miner on April 19, 1918 reports that a very large crowd gathered in Prescott for a quick "snappy speech." The train was delayed an extra 10 minutes before moving on toward Williams and then the Grand Canyon.
