Hualapai Charlie (Susquatama or Sudjikwo'dime, better known by his nickname Hualapai Charley, Hualapai Charlie, Walapai Charley or Walapai Charlie of the Middle Mountain People subtribe) was a half-brother of Schrum, a prominent band leader, and tried to convince his people not to attack Anglo wagon trains. He, as well as other Hualapai leaders, resisted the takeover of their lands for as long as they could. Eventually the Hualapai were forced to surrender to ensure the future of their people. The Hualapai war lasted from 1865-1870.
Thanks to the efforts of Hualapai Charlie (the big chief), Leve Leve (a peace chief) and Schrum (a war chief), the Hualapai still own a piece of their original territory within the Grand Canyon.
