Description

This photos shows the Fort Whipple Hospital and the Tuberculosis (TB) Wards, which were built and completed in 1918-1919. The two-story building in the front center of the photo served as the Hospital. Whereas the long buildings on the left half of the photo were the TB Wards. The other buildings along the right in the background are storerooms and maintenance shops.

The U.S. Army operated Whipple Barracks as U.S. Army Hospital #20 between May 1918 and February 1920 in Prescott, Arizona. A significant amount of construction funds to built these TB Wards came in 1918.
