Apache Chief Sanchez was the leader of the Carrizo Creek band of Cibecue Apaches. He was called Metal Tooth by his tribe, which consisted of approximately 250 people. He was a noted character in the attack on General Eugene Asa Carr on the Cibicue Creek in August 1881. He was killed on August 1894, near Vedar Creeek, 13 miles west of Fort Apache, by a member of this tribe.
