Description

Ellery Davis Williams (b. 1861 - d. 1925) was born November 9, 1861 in Raynham, Massachusetts. His parents were Charles Henry Williams and Lydia French Manchester. He was the eldest of their six children.

In 1886, he was a civil engineer for the U. S. Army and was stationed at Whipple Barracks, in Prescott, in what was then the Arizona Territory. He registered to vote in Prescott in 1886.

He was discharged from the U. S. Army on January 10, 1889 in Los Angeles, California, after completing two enlistments. He registered to vote in Los Angeles on September 29, 1888.

He married Clara Belle Grote (b. June 18, 1864 in Illinois; d. May 21, 1930 in St. Louis) and they had two children: Alden Charles Williams (b. 1893 - d. 1973) and Harvey Grote Williams (b. 1897 - d. 1945).

Ellery died on December 23, 1925 in St. Louis, Missouri. (Note: on his birth certificate the spelling of his first name is shown as Elery.)
