Roderick Sprague moved to Prescott in 1907 from Olympia, Washington with his wife, Laura Avery, and their two children, Wilhemina Aileen and Roderick Jr. He moved to Arizona in order to recover from his tuberculosis. He stayed here for around six months before moving on to Tucson, where he lived for almost a year. During his stay, he recovered from his past illness, and went back to live in Central Washington until influenza reactivated his tuberculosis in 1919.
