David Evans Coleman (b.1873 - d.1954) was born in Spring Valley, Nevada on February 12, 1873. His parents were Prime Thornton Coleman and Emma Beck (Evans) Coleman.
It appears that David used his middle name, Evans, as his common name throughout his life.
Evans and his parents moved to Arizona sometime between 1880-1888. Records show his father, Prime, was running for Supervisor in Graham County, Arizona in 1888. In 1897, Prime was the Clerk of the Court in Apache County, Arizona.
In the 1900 Census, Evans is living in Stafford, Graham County, Arizona and his occupation is farming.
Evans was a member of the Latter Day Saints (LDS), as were his parents, and he went on a LDS mission trip in 1907. He appears in the newspapers from time to time regarding the LDS Church.
Evans was the Sheriff or Marshall in Stafford, Arizona in 1912.
He was the tailings inspector for the canal companies at the Morenci and Clifton mines in 1914. His job was to keep the Gila River clear of the trailings.
He kept a diary his entire life, which may still be in the family's possession.
He married Eliza Emily Skinner on July 15,1912 in Thatcher, Arizona. Her father was a former legislator. They had four children: Abbot, Eola, David and George Phelps Coleman.
Evans and Eliza were involved in the local theater. Eliza was a canning master and won numerous prizes at the Graham County Fair.
Evans died on December 15,1954 in Thatcher, Arizona. He is buried in Thatcher Cemetery in Thatcher.
Eliza Coleman (b.1893 - d.1954) was born Eliza Emily Skinner on February 16, 1893 in Arizona. Her parents were George Skinner, born in England in 1851 and her mother (name unknown) was also born in England.
Eliza died on December 24, 1970 in Thatcher, Arizona and is buried in Thatcher Cemetery.
