Robert E. Morrison residence, Prescott, Arizona.
The house at 300 S. Marina is a well preserved example of early twentieth century housing for Prescott's more prosperous citizenry. The building was erected in the spring of 1902 for Robert E. Morrison, one of the territory's best attorneys. He served as judge of Apache County during both the Pleasant Valley War and the conflict between the Hash Knife outfit and the Mormons. In 1891 he moved to Prescott where he subsequently served as District Attorney and U.S. Attorney. Architectrually the building retains some of the characteristics of the Queen Anne (i.e. plan, roof forms, exterior material use) yet the overall impression of the design is more in keeping with the formality of the Classical Revival. the gable in the front facade, for example, is very nearly a pediment; and the broad torret is far removed from its medieval prototype.
