Description

Etta (Dewitt) Neagle (b. 1881 - d. 1947) was born in Prescott, Arizona on August 14, 1881. Her parents were William DeWitt, born in Pennsylvania in 1848 and Mary Condon, born in Washington, D.C. in 1860. Etta's father was a mechanical engineer at Fort Whipple in Prescott.

Etta was an accomplished singer and pianist in Prescott. She was a member of the Monday Club.

She married William Neagle on April 16, 1906 in Prescott. He was first employed as a mine foreman by the United Verde Copper Company in Jerome, Arizona and then was an undersheriff in Prescott at the time of their marriage. They had four daughters, including one set of twins.

The family moved to Hackberry, Arizona. Etta was an election judge there.

Handwriting on back of photograph reads: "Miss Etta DeWitt, now Mrs. Neagle. Daughter of William DeWitt-engineer at Fort Whipple. Niece of Mrs. Dan Campbell."

Etta died in Orange, California on February 2, 1947. No burial information found.
