Description

Portrait of Doctor Florence "Pat" (Brookhart) Yount (b. 1909 - d. 1988).

Pat was born on March 5, 1909, in Washington, Iowa, the daughter of Jennie (Hearne) and Smith Wildman Brookhart, who served in the U.S. Senate. As a young girl, Pat was interested in science and medicine and with her father’s support, she attended George Washington University and Medical School as one of only five women in a class of eighty-eight. There she met her future husband, Clarence Edgar “Ned” Yount, Jr. from Prescott, Arizona. After interning in a Washington, D.C. hospital, she moved with her husband in 1937 to Prescott, where she practiced medicine and became a respected doctor of the community.
