Located north of Phoenix, Arcosanti is a desert city started in 1970 by Italian architect Paolo Soleri (b. 1919 - d. 2013). Soleri designed Arcosanti in keeping with Arcology, a way of thinking about design that he created, bringing efficiency and environmental awareness to society. Arcosanti was a community where people could live in harmony with the natural world.
