Russel James (b. 1906 - d.1989) was born Russell Everett James on December 11, 1906 in Namaha, Kansas. His parents were Alfred J. James, born in Wisconsin in 1877 and Nellie (Rolfe) James, born in Kansas in 1876.

Russell's wife was Mildred (Haury) James.

In the 1940 U.S. Census, Russell was living in Drake, Yavapai County, Arizona.

He died on November 27, 1989 in Wichita, Kansas and is buried at White Chapel Cemetery in Wichita.

Handwriting on photograph reads: "Russell James, top of Granite Mountain".
