Pauline Weaver (born Powell Weaver) was born in Tennessee. He arrived in Arizona Territory from California in 1830. In 1863 Weaver was hired by A. H. Peeples led the Peeples Party on a prospecting expedition up the upper Hassayampa River to what are now the Weaver Mountains, where they found placer gold at Rich Hill, near present-day Yarnell. The mining district was named the Weaver District in Weaver's honor.
