Description

Lou (Chapman) Carson (b. 1869 or 1870 - 1953), wife of Kit Carson III, the grandson of Christopher Houston "Kit" Carson.

Colonel Kit Carson, grandson of Kit Carson, sold mining claims. He was involved in a minor scandal involving the selling of Lobo wolf skins. Ultimately the Arizona Pima County Board of Supervisors determined that the skins were genuine. He also promoted the Golden State Mining Company throughout Yuma, Arizona. He was charged with fraudulent representation of the mine. His pedigree related to the famous frontiersman Kit Carson was also questioned.

Handwriting on back of photo reads: "Mrs. Kit Carson, granddaughter of Col. Kit Carson at Parker and Dewey, Arizona about 1908-9-10."

Her husband died in 1931 and is buried at Mountain View Cemetery in San Bernardino, California.
