Description

Shirley Ann Cheney (b. 1936 – d. 1996) was born March 30, 1936 in Kern, California.  She was the last of nine children born to Richard Melvin Cheney (b. 1882 – d. 1938) and Grace Beebe Cuddeback (b. 1890 - d. 1978). In 1940 she was living in Kern, California and was not married; in 1950 she was living in Port Hueneme, Ventura, California. She died December 5, 1996 in Maricopa, Arizona.

Her parents were living in the Verde Valley area of Arizona when the following siblings were born: Adrian Jerome Cheney (b. 12/10/1917 – d. 01/04/2000); Hope Alberta Cheney (b. 11/07/1920); Milton Lowell Cheney (b. 11/07/1923 – d. 07/1979), Gayle Taylor Cheney (b. 11/07/1925) and Lois Lorraine Cheney (b. 07/27/1929). Three were born in Jerome, one in Clarkdale, and one in Cottonwood.

Handwritten notes on back of photograph read, "Shirley Ann Cheney was born March 30, 1936 in Mojave, California." Photograph shows her at "age 2 years, 2 months,"  that she had "Golden red curly hair and brown eyes" and that the photograph was "sent May 30, 1938."
