Description

Handwritten on the back of the photograph are the names:  Ed Kastner, Billy Greenwood, Dr. R. H. Looney and Ed Block. Other men are not identified. The following information was found.

Ed Block (b. ? – d. 1932). Ed Block died in Prescott, Arizona in January, 1932 and is buried at Prescott's Masonic cemetery. He was a retired pioneer Prescott merchant and mining man and a member of the Knights Templar. He was active in the affairs of Prescott for thirty-five years and was one of the original incorporators of the Prescott county chamber of commerce and for many years was an active member and director. He was married to Mrs. Helen S. Block; had a daughter, Mrs. Beth Block Pelta and two sons, Gary E. and Harold H. Block.

Edward Albert Kastner (b. 1868 – d. 1933) was born February 7, 1868 and died July 22, 1933 in Prescott. He was a native of Canada and in Prescott, a prominent pioneer merchant, member of the North Methodist church and a charter member of the Elks Lodge. His first business venture was a small confectionery which he grew to establish the Piggly Wiggly Kastner store at the corner of Gurley and Montezuma. He lived in Prescott 40 years. He was survived by an only daughter, Mrs. Alex Spence.

Dr. Robert N. Looney (b. 1870 – d. 1962) was born July 6, 1870 in Looney Creek, Tennessee.  He died in Prescott, June 2, 1962 and is buried at Mountain View Cemetery. He was married to Martha M. Loooney. He moved to Prescott in 1888 and practiced medicine in the Prescott area for over 50 years. For many years, he was chief surgeon for the Santa Fe Railroad Company. He also served as superintendent of health for Yavapai County and later was superintendent of Health for Arizona during its early statehood years.
