Handwritten information on back of photograph:  "Bill Carter, deputy from Yuma, also at Vulture" 

The Vulture Mine near Wickenburg, Arizona was one of the earliest and richest strikes in the Arizona Terriotory. In 1863, after Henry Wickenburg discovered the Vulture mine, Vulture City, a small mining town, was established in the area. It grew to have a population of 5,000 before being abandoned and turning into a ghost town.
