Description

Silver Pheasant Mine exterior, c. 1930's.

The Silver Pheasant was a gold mine located in Yavapai County, Arizona at an elevation of 3,261 feet. Gold was its’ primary commodity, with secondary production of zinc, silver and lead.

The mining property was located on the west side of Turkey Creek, near the eastern foot of the Bradshaw Mountains and adjacent to the Golden Turkey Mine. Access to the mine was via the old Black Canyon Highway, and about 15 miles from the towns of Cleator and Mayer, the mine's nearest railway shipping point.

Typewritten on the back of the photograph states: "View of surface plant from the east. Right of track blacksmith shop. Tool and supply room further to the right and partly obscured by the blacksmith shop. Compressor room left of track. Ore is trammed from mine to bridge end and hoisted to mill bin and from there by gravity to concentrates bin and tailings pound."
